Executive Officers

Tim Leach has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since Concho was formed in 2004 and also served as President until 2017. Previously, Tim served as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Concho Oil & Gas Corp. from its formation in 2001 until its sale in 2004. From 1997 to 2001, Tim was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Concho Resources Inc., a predecessor company to Concho. Prior to founding Concho, Tim served in various positions with Parker & Parsley, including Executive Vice President.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Tim was appointed to the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott in 2017. Tim currently serves on the Energy Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Tim also serves on the Board of Governors for Midland Memorial Foundation, the Board of Directors of the Midland College Foundation, the Scharbauer Foundation and the Advisory Board of the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute. He is the recipient of the 2017 TXOGA Distinguished Service Award, the 2011 “Top Hand Award” from the Permian Basin Petroleum Association and was inducted into the Petroleum Museum Hall of Fame in 2013

Tim Leach , , , Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer

Before being named President in 2017, Jack held leadership roles in investor relations, business development and finance.

Jack joined Concho in 2006 as Director of Investor Relations and Business Development. He then took on roles of increasing responsibility, including Vice President of Business Development and Capital Markets, Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff, and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Concho, Jack served in various investor relations, business development, finance and strategic planning roles at Unocal Corporation, Pure Resources, Inc. and Tom Brown, Inc.

Jack currently serves on the board of trustees of the Abell-Hanger Foundation and the Texas State Museum Foundation. Jack is a graduate of Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

Jack Harper , , , President

Will is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Will is responsible for Concho’s operating strategy as well as business development, planning, midstream and marketing.

Will joined Concho as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in 2009, and later held the roles of Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary; and as Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer and Corporate Secretary. Will began his career practicing corporate law at Vinson & Elkins, L.L.P.

Will is a graduate of Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.

Will Giraud , , , Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Brenda is Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. She joined Concho as Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer in 2013. In her current role, she is responsible for accounting, finance, investor relations and information technology.

Previously, Brenda was with Ernst & Young LLP since 1999. Her most recent position was Americas Oil & Gas Sector Resident within the national audit practice. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from West Texas A&M University and a Master of Science in Accounting from Texas A&M University. Brenda is a certified public accountant in the state of Texas.

Brenda Schroer , , , Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

Clay is Senior Vice President of Assets, with the vice presidents of the Company’s Delaware Basin and Midland Basin asset teams reporting to him. He joined Concho in 2008 and has served in numerous operational leadership roles including Vice President of Delaware Basin, Vice President of New Mexico, Vice President of Texas, Texas Basins Asset Manager and Texas Asset Manager. Prior to joining Concho, Clay worked at Encore Acquisition Company as Senior Operations Engineer and at Burlington Resources in various engineering and operations capacities.

Clay holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas.

Clay Bateman , , , Senior Vice President of Assets

Gayle Burleson is Senior Vice President of Business Development and Land for Concho. In this role, Gayle oversees our business development and corporate land functions.

Gayle joined Concho in 2006 and has served in a variety of leadership positions, including Vice President of Business Development, Vice President of New Mexico, Vice President of Corporate Engineering and Corporate Engineering Manager. Prior to Concho, Gayle served in various engineering and operations capacities at BTA Oil Producers, Mobil, Parker & Parsley and Exxon.

Gayle is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.

Gayle Burleson , , , Senior Vice President of Business Development and Land

Keith Corbett is Senior Vice President of Corporate Engineering and Planning. In this role, Keith is responsible for corporate reservoir engineering and strategic planning. Keith joined Concho in 2005 as Lead Reservoir Engineer. Keith has served as New Mexico Basin Asset Manager, New Mexico Shelf Asset Manager and New Mexico Operations Supervisor, and he was appointed Vice President of Texas (later, Vice President of Midland Basin) in 2015.

Prior to joining Concho, Keith held drilling, reservoir and production engineering positions at Penzoil (later Devon Energy) and Stallion Energy.

Keith is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering.

Keith Corbett , , , Senior Vice President of Corporate Engineering and Planning

Travis is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. He joined Concho in 2013. Travis is responsible for the legal and insurance functions of the Company.

Before joining Concho, Travis served as Vice President, Legal and Deputy General Counsel of Halcón Resources Corporation and as Associate General Counsel – Corporate of Petrohawk Energy Corporation. Prior to joining Petrohawk, Travis practiced at the Hinkle Elkouri Law Firm L.L.C., where he ultimately became a member.

Travis holds a Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Tulane University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and as a member of the Order of the Coif.

Travis Counts , , , Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Scott is Senior Vice President of Administration. In his current role, Scott oversees the Company’s government affairs and human resources organizations as well as several other administrative functions. Scott joined Concho in 2011 as Senior Counsel, and later held the roles of Director of Government and Public Affairs and Vice President of Government and Public Affairs. Prior to joining Concho, Scott was a shareholder at Lynch, Chappell & Alsup PC.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University and a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.

Scott Kidwell , , , Senior Vice President of Administration

Price is Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Midstream. In this role, Price is responsible for driving the Company’s long-term strategy for midstream and oil and gas marketing as well as commodity fundamentals analysis. He joined Concho in 2010 as Director of Corporate Development and was previously Vice President of Capital Markets and Strategy and Senior Vice President of Finance and Strategy. 

Prior to Concho, Price was with Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. in the energy investment banking group and with J.P. Morgan in the natural resources investment banking group. 

Price received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington & Lee University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

Price Moncrief , , , Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Midstream

Erick is Senior Vice President of Operations and Production.

Erick has been with Concho since its formation in 2004. He has held several positions of increasing responsibility, including Vice President of Operations and Production, Vice President of New Mexico and New Mexico Asset Manager. Prior to joining Concho, Erick served in various operations engineering positions at Concho Oil and Gas Corp. from its formation in 2001 until its sale in 2004. Erick also served as an operations engineer for Concho Resources Inc., a predecessor company to Concho from 2000 until its sale in 2001.

Erick began his career working at Mewbourne Oil Company as an operations engineer from 1984 to 1995. Erick holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University.

Corporate Officers

Mary Ann is Vice President, Chief of Staff and Assistant Corporate Secretary. Mary Ann joined Concho in 2008 as an attorney, and held increasing roles of responsibility in the organization before becoming Chief of Staff. As Vice President, Chief of Staff and Assistant Corporate Secretary, Mary Ann oversees human resources, equity administration, facilities, support services, and internal communications.

Before coming to Concho, she was a corporate litigator at Cooper Levenson, P.A. in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

She is a graduate of The Catholic University of America with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and a graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.

Mary Ann Berry , , , Vice President, Chief of Staff and Assistant Corporate Secretary

James is Vice President of Business Development. James came to Concho in 2005 as a Senior Geologist in our Exploration Department, and has held several positions of increasing responsibility, including Business Development Manager and Director of Business Development.

In his current capacity, he oversees the Business Development function, evaluating acquisition and divestiture opportunities and managing deals from inception, to valuation, to close. Before coming to Concho, James was a geologist at Tom Brown. Inc. (later Encana).

James holds a B.S. in Geology from Texas Tech University and an M.S. in Geology with a specialty in Petroleum Geoscience from the University of Oklahoma.

James Caputo , , , Vice President of Business Development

Kang is Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Kang joined Concho in 2010 as Director of Information Technology. Prior to Concho, Kang served in various managerial roles with increasing responsibilities for LyondellBasell. Before LyondellBasell, Kang was with Deloitte Consulting where his clients included large oil and gas exploration and production companies and integrated oil companies. Kang holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, a Master of Science in Finance from Suffolk University and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from Boston University.

Kang Chen , , , Vice President and Chief Information Officer

Jeff is Vice President of Delaware Basin. In this role, Jeff oversees operations for Concho’s Delaware Basin assets, including engineering, land and geoscience.

Jeff came to Concho in 2011 as a Senior Operations Engineer on our completions team. In 2016, Jeff was named Asset Manager and later appointed Delaware Basin Business Unit Manager.  Jeff previously worked in various production and operations engineering roles for Apache, XTO and Hess.

Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University.

Jeff Gasch , , , Vice President of Delaware Basin

Chris Gatjanis is Concho’s Vice President of Horizontal Completions. In this role, Mr. Gatjanis oversees Concho’s completions operations as part of one of the largest exploration and development programs in the Permian. Mr. Gatjanis began his career with Halliburton Energy Services in 1978 and during his 41 year tenure he held various management positions in Operations, Integrated Project Management, Business Development, and Finance in both North and Latin America. From 2007 to 2019 he served as Halliburton’s Vice President of the Permian Basin.

He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Association of Drilling Engineers, and has served on the Board of Directors of the Permian Basin Petroleum Association.

Mr. Gatjanis holds a Bachelor in Business Administration and is a graduate of the Halliburton Leadership Excellence Program, an executive development program which is administered through the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University.

Chris Gatjanis , , , Vice President of Horizontal Completions

Jake is Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. Jake joined Concho in 2016 as Director of Accounting, overseeing technical accounting. Jake previously served as Controller for Memorial Resource Development Corp. and VAALCO Energy managing the accounting functions for the companies.

Jake has a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Accountancy from Texas State University.

Jacob Gobar , , , Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer

Megan was named Vice President of Investor Relations and Public Affairs in 2017. She joined Concho as Director of Investor Relations in 2014 and was appointed Vice President of Investor Relations in 2016. In her current role, Megan is responsible for communicating the Company’s strategy to shareholders and the investor community. Megan also leads the management of the Company’s brand and all communication activities.

Megan has more than 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, beginning her career at Approach Resources in 2006. From 2007 to 2014, Megan led Approach's investor relations effort as well as its financial and capital markets activities.

Megan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from Texas Christian University. She is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute and the Permian Basin Chapter of the Women's Energy Network.

Megan P. Hays , , , Vice President of Investor Relations and Public Affairs

Aaron is Vice President of Midland Basin. In this current role, Aaron oversees operations for Concho’s Midland Basin assets, including engineering, land and geoscience.

Aaron joined Concho in 2011 as a Senior Reservoir Engineer and has held increasing roles of responsibility since that time, including: Asset Manager and Midland Basin Business Unit Manager. Aaron previously worked at Chevron in various production and reservoir engineering roles.

Aaron has a degree in Petroleum Engineering from Montana Tech of the University of Montana.

Aaron Hunter , , , Vice President of Midland Basin

Ray is Vice President of Drilling, a position he’s held since 2012. He joined Concho in 2011 as Drilling Manager.

Prior to joining Concho, Ray was President and Chief Executive Officer of Mountain Drilling Company and President of Peterson Drilling Company. Ray began working on drilling rigs in college before going on to serve as an Officer, and later a Captain, in the United States Army. Following his time in the military, he was employed by various drilling companies until founding Peterson Drilling Company.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from New Mexico State University and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University.

Ray Peterson , , , Vice President of Drilling

Chris is Vice President of Geoscience and Technology. Chris came to Concho in 2013 as a Geologic Advisor and later held the positions of Geoscience Manager and Chief Geoscientist. Chris leads multidisciplinary teams tasked with resource management, reservoir characterization, and the implementation of advanced technologies.

Chris previously worked in various geological roles of increasing responsibility for ExxonMobil, Burlington Resources/ConocoPhillips, and Apache.

Chris holds a B.S. and M.S. in Geology from the University of Kansas.

Chris Spies , , , Vice President of Geoscience and Technology

Jere is Vice President of Planning. Jere joined Concho in 2012 as Financial Analyst and later held the roles of Manager of Finance and Planning and Director of Finance. In his current role, Jere oversees all aspects of planning for the Company, including operational planning. Jere started his career at Amegy Bank of Texas.

Jere holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas at Austin.

Concho Resources Inc. is an independent exploration and production company engaged in the acquisition, development and exploration of oil and natural gas properties. Concho’s operations are concentrated in the Permian Basin of Southeast New Mexico and West Texas.
