Executive Officers

Tim Leach has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since Concho was formed in 2004 and also served as President until 2017. Previously, Tim served as the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Concho Oil & Gas Corp. from its formation in 2001 until its sale in 2004. From 1997 to 2001, Tim was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Concho Resources Inc., a predecessor company to Concho. Prior to founding Concho, Tim served in various positions with Parker & Parsley, including Executive Vice President.

Tim holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Tim was appointed to the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott in 2017. Tim also serves on the Board of Governors for Midland Memorial Foundation, as well as the Board of Directors of the Midland College Foundation and Scharbauer Foundation.

Jack was appointed President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company in 2017. Jack oversees all of Concho’s operations as well as the Company’s legal, accounting, information technology and security functions.

Previously, Jack served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 2016 to 2017, Executive Vice President from 2014 to 2016 and Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff from 2010 to 2013. Jack joined Concho in 2006 as Director of Investor Relations and Business Development and became Vice President of Business Development and Capital Markets in 2007. Prior to joining Concho, Jack served in various capacities relating to finance, investor relations and business development at Unocal Corporation, Pure Resources, Inc. and Tom Brown, Inc.

Jack is a graduate of Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

Jack Harper , , , President and Chief Financial Officer

Joe serves as a Director, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Concho. He has been with Concho since its formation in 2004.

Since joining Concho, Joe has held a variety of leadership positions, including Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Engineering and Operations. As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Joe oversees the Company’s drilling and completion program, government and regulatory affairs and human resources.

Prior to Concho, Joe was Vice President of Operations and Engineering of Concho Oil & Gas Corp. from its formation in 2001 until its sale in 2004. From 1997 to 2001, Joe was Vice President of Operations of Concho Resources Inc., a predecessor company to Concho. Joe has also worked in several operations, engineering and capital markets positions at Mewbourne Oil Company.

Joe holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Joe Wright , , , Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Will has been Executive Vice President since 2013. In 2017, our Board named Will successor to the Chief Operating Officer position upon Joe Wright’s retirement in early 2019. Will is currently responsible for Concho’s four asset teams as well as business development and strategy.

Will joined Concho as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in 2009, and was later named Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in 2010. In 2013, Will was named Executive Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer and Corporate Secretary. Will began his career practicing corporate and securities law at Vinson & Elkins, L.L.P.

Will is a graduate of Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.

Will Giraud , , , Executive Vice President

Gayle is Senior Vice President of Business Development. In this role, Gayle oversees business development and corporate land.

Gayle joined Concho in 2006, and has held several reservoir engineering roles for Concho, including as Vice President of New Mexico, Vice President of Engineering and Manager of Corporate Engineering.

Prior to joining Concho, Gayle was a Senior Engineer at BTA Oil Producers, with responsibility for reservoir and operations engineering for the Permian Basin, Oklahoma and North Dakota. Prior to her work at BTA, Gayle was Staff Reservoir Engineer for Mobil Oil Corporation, overseeing tertiary floods in Utah, Senior Reservoir Engineer for Parker & Parsley Petroleum Company, overseeing development in the Permian Basin, and in various reservoir engineering capacities at Exxon Corporation, overseeing oil and natural gas fields, water floods and tertiary recovery floods in the Permian Basin and North Dakota.

Gayle is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.

Gayle Burleson , , , Senior Vice President of Business Development

Travis is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. He joined Concho in 2013. Travis is responsible for the legal and insurance functions of the Company.

Before joining Concho, Travis served as Vice President, Legal and Deputy General Counsel of Halcón Resources Corporation and as Associate General Counsel – Corporate of Petrohawk Energy Corporation. Prior to joining Petrohawk, Travis practiced at the Hinkle Elkouri Law Firm L.L.C., where he ultimately became a member.

Travis holds a Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Tulane University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and as a member of the Order of the Coif.

Travis Counts , , , Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Steve is Senior Vice President of Business Operations and Engineering for Concho. In this role, Steve supervises Concho’s corporate engineering.

Steve joined Concho in 2004 and has served in several roles, including as Vice President of Texas, Texas Asset Manager, and as Engineering Manager. Prior to joining Concho, Steve was Business Development Manager at Moriah Resources. Steve also served in various engineering and operations capacities at Henry Petroleum and Exxon.

Steve is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering.

Steve Guthrie , , , Senior Vice President of Business Operations and Engineering

Price is Senior Vice President of Finance and Strategy. In this role, Price’s responsibilities include finance, capital markets, strategic planning and midstream. He joined Concho in 2010 as Director of Corporate Development and was previously Vice President of Capital Markets and Strategy.

Prior to Concho, Price was with Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. in the energy investment banking group and with J.P. Morgan in the natural resources investment banking group.

Price received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington & Lee University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

Price Moncrief , , , Senior Vice President of Finance and Strategy

Erick is Senior Vice President of Operations and Production.

Erick has been with Concho since its formation in 2004. He has held several positions of increasing responsibility, including Vice President of Operations and Production, Vice President of New Mexico and New Mexico Asset Manager. Prior to joining Concho, Erick served in various operations engineering positions at Concho Oil and Gas Corp. from its formation in 2001 until its sale in 2004. Erick also served as an operations engineer for Concho Resources Inc., a predecessor company to Concho from 2000 until its sale in 2001.

Erick began his career working at Mewbourne Oil Company as an operations engineer from 1984 to 1995. Erick holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University.

Erick Nelson , , , Senior Vice President of Operations and Production

Brenda is Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer and Treasurer. She joined Concho as Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer in 2013. In her current role, she is responsible for accounting, treasury and information technology.

Previously, Brenda was with Ernst & Young LLP since 1999. Her most recent position was Americas Oil & Gas Sector Resident within the audit practice. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from West Texas A&M University and a Master of Science in Accounting from Texas A&M University. Brenda is a certified public accountant.

Corporate Officers

Clay is Vice President of New Mexico. He joined Concho in 2008 and has served as Vice President of Texas, Texas Basins Asset Manager and Texas Asset Manager. Prior to joining Concho, Clay worked at Encore Acquisition Company as Senior Operations Engineer and at Burlington Resources in various engineering and operations capacities.

Clay holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas.

Clay Bateman , , , Vice President of New Mexico

James is Vice President of Business Development. James came to Concho in 2005 as a Senior Geologist in our Exploration Department, and has held several positions of increasing responsibility, including Business Development Manager and Director of Business Development.

In his current capacity, he oversees the Business Development function, evaluating acquisition and divestiture opportunities and managing deals from inception, to valuation, to close. Before coming to Concho, James was a geologist at Tom Brown. Inc. (later Encana).

James holds a B.S. in Geology from Texas Tech University and an M.S. in Geology with a specialty in Petroleum Geoscience from the University of Oklahoma.

James Caputo , , , Vice President of Business Development

Mary Ann is Vice President, Chief of Staff and Corporate Secretary. Mary Ann joined Concho in 2008 as an attorney, and was later named Chief of Staff in 2014. As Chief of Staff, Mary Ann oversees human resources, equity administration and internal communications.

Before coming to Concho, she was a corporate litigator at Cooper Levenson, P.A. in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

She is a graduate of The Catholic University of America with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and a graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.

Mary Ann Berry , , , Vice President, Chief of Staff and Assistant Corporate Secretary

Kang is Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Kang joined Concho in 2010 as Director of Information Technology. Prior to Concho, Kang served in various managerial roles with increasing responsibilities for LyondellBasell. Before LyondellBasell, Kang was with Deloitte Consulting where his clients included large oil and gas exploration and production companies and integrated oil companies. Kang holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, a Master of Science in Finance from Suffolk University and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from Boston University.

Kang Chen , , , Vice President and Chief Information Officer

Keith Corbett is Vice President of Texas. Keith joined Concho in 2005 as Lead Reservoir Engineer. Keith has served as New Mexico Basin Asset Manager, New Mexico Shelf Asset Manager and New Mexico Operations Supervisor.

Prior to joining Concho, Keith held drilling, reservoir and production engineering positions at Penzoil (later Devon Energy) and Stallion Energy.

He is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering.

Keith Corbett , , , Vice President of Texas

Megan was named Vice President of Investor Relations and Public Affairs in 2017. She was appointed Vice President of Investor Relations in 2016. She joined Concho as Director, Investor Relations in 2014. In her current role, Megan manages relationships with various investor constituencies and leads Concho’s communications function.

Megan has more than 10 years of experience in the oil and natural gas industry, beginning her career at Approach Resources in 2006. From 2007 to 2014, Megan led Approach's investor relations effort as well as its financial and capital markets activities.

Megan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from Texas Christian University. She is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute and the Permian Basin Chapter of the Women's Energy Network.

Megan P. Hays , , , Vice President of Investor Relations and Public Affairs

Scott is Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs. In his current role, Scott oversees interaction with all local, state, and federal governments and manages all aspects of regulatory matters.

He joined Concho in 2011 as Senior Counsel. In 2013, Scott was promoted to Director of Government and Public Affairs; and in 2015, he was promoted to Vice President of Government and Public Affairs. Prior to joining Concho, Scott was a shareholder at Lynch, Chappell & Alsup PC.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University and a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.

Scott Kidwell , , , Vice President of Government and Regulatory Affairs

Ray is Vice President of Drilling, a position he’s held since 2012. He joined Concho in 2011 as Drilling Manager.

Prior to joining Concho, Ray was President and Chief Executive Officer of Mountain Drilling Company and President of Peterson Drilling Company. Ray began working on drilling rigs in college before going on to serve as an Officer, and later a Captain, in the United States Army. Following his time in the military, he was employed by various drilling companies until founding Peterson Drilling Company.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from New Mexico State University and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University.

Ray Peterson , , , Vice President of Drilling

Chris is Vice President of Geoscience and Technology. Chris came to Concho in 2013 as a Geologic Advisor and later held the positions of Geoscience Manager and Chief Geoscientist. Chris leads multidisciplinary teams tasked with resource management, reservoir characterization, and the implementation of advanced technologies.

Chris previously worked in various geological roles of increasing responsibility for ExxonMobil, Burlington Resources/ConocoPhillips, and Apache.

Chris holds a B.S. and M.S. in Geology from the University of Kansas.

Chris Spies , , , Vice President of Geoscience and Technology

Concho Resources Inc. is an independent exploration and production company engaged in the acquisition, development and exploration of oil and natural gas properties. Concho’s operations are concentrated in the Permian Basin of Southeast New Mexico and West Texas.
